Lendlease | Communication and Data Network
Lendlease is a globally integrated real estate and investment group with core expertise in shaping cities and creating strong and connected communities.
They create award-winning urban precincts, new communities for older people and young families just starting out, retail precincts, and workplaces to the highest sustainability standards. They are also privileged to create essential civic and social infrastructure, including state-of-the-art hospitals, universities and stadiums around the world.
When FLR Spectron Ltd was contracted to provide services on behalf of Lendlease, the international real estate and investment group, the networking and end device solutions were brought to the fore. The collaboration at Elephant Park enabled Lendlease to deliver a sitewide communication and data network which supports the initial phases of the development using converged technology components.
Lendlease, in partnership with Southwark Council, is contracted to deliver a £2.5 billion regeneration project in Elephant & Castle, London, which includes approximately 3,000 new homes centred around a one-hectare new park. Once completed, this will be one of the largest new green spaces in central London for decades. The master plan will also provide space for over 50 new shops, restaurants, cafes and affordable retail space.
A high-speed IP local area network (LAN) connecting public realm CCTV and Wi-Fi access points via a backbone fibre cabling infrastructure were all implemented by FLR Spectron within the contractually agreed implementation plan. For the converged solution, FLR Spectron utilised Cisco 9300, 9400, 9500 Catalyst architecture, a Ruckus Networks Wi-Fi solution incorporating Virtual SmartZone management, Virtual Smart Positioning technology, and T710 external access points. In addition, a UCOPIA Advance Controller was installed to safely and securely connect estate management staff, residents, guests and customers to the development.
The CCTV solution incorporated Axis Q-series IP CCTV cameras and a Milestone XProtect Video Management Solution to manage HD video feeds from each camera. This challenging project brought together technologies sourced to ensure high-speed connectivity, an enhanced customer experience through concise retail information being delivered and, just as importantly, safety through a supported campus-wide camera network.
“Throughout the tender process, it was very clear FLR Spectron is a company that would work with us to deliver the best possible outcome for the project. Now, having worked with the FLR Spectron team, we know we made the right choice because we have not been disappointed, and indeed, in many areas, our expectations have been exceeded. Throughout this time, not only has FLR Spectron adapted to the changes and helped us overcome the challenges, but the team has also provided many ideas for improving the design and installation.”
