Putting People First

We have learnt that being a people-focused company is its own reward. We believe in giving something back, whether it’s to our staff, our customers or our community. Here are some of the projects and schemes we support.

Charities & Volunteering

We are proud to be able to support and be involved with a number of important charities, from nationally recognised organisations like The Royal Variety Golf Club Society and Young Epilepsy, to smaller local groups like The Maypole Project.

In addition to our direct financial support, we often donate and contribute loan of our assets and services to good causes. Whether it’s donating our VIP suite at London’s O2 arena as a prize, or taking part in fundraising events as a team, we like to be connected with and directly contributing to the good causes that are important to us.

“FLR Spectron is a terrific supporter of ours and we are delighted that they have enabled us to provide a coach to Kingswood School.”

Give and Gain Day

Give and Gain Day is the UK’s only national day of employee volunteering. Companies of all shapes and sizes support their community through volunteering. They help young people and vulnerable groups, budding entrepreneurs, charities and community organisations, to problem solve, develop skills, build confidence, maintain and expand their services

We have helped BEAMS in Hextable for the last couple of years, where we have painted the garden play equipment, jet washed the play area, planted new plants and tidied up the garden.

This brings so much joy to the children, their families and the staff at BEAMS.

Best Companies Day

We had a fun filled day celebrating our amazing achievements with games, great food and more.

Largs Colts

For the last few years we have been proud sponsors of the Largs Colts football team in Scotland where we sponsored their football kit.

"FLR has been instrumental in keeping this group, of now young men, together and learning the positive benefits of teamwork , commitment , hard work and respect as they have developed through their high school years. We have been very fortunate to have enjoyed the support of FLR over the last few years and there will be a legacy of benefit as we pass down our used FLR kits to younger upcoming groups/teams". Education

At FLR Spectron it is important to us that we give back to the community which is why we take pride in the provision academic development. We have an established relationship as Business Ambassadors with local schools through the Education Business Partnership scheme in Bromley. We are on hand to offer advice, guidance and sponsorship to young aspiring students as they seek to develop their skill sets towards a future career. Whether that be through work experience or workshops in local schools.

“FLR Spectron have been valuable partners for over 12 years, sharing their time, expertise and knowledge, in turn helping us deliver enterprising learning projects to young people in local secondary schools.” BEBP LogoLesley Holland, Bromley Education Business Partnership

Apprenticeships

We take pride in offering aspiring young people the opportunity to develop their careers through a modern apprenticeship scheme. With market conditions making finding the right candidate for many roles difficult and the job market itself a hazardous place to navigate for the school or college leaver, an apprenticeship offers companies like ours the chance to mould the candidate around the role whilst providing the apprentice with the opportunity to learn real-world skills on the job.

We employ several apprentices, all of whom are a genuine asset to our workforce and company. As a successful business we believe it’s important to remember our roots and the storms we’ve weathered in the past. We do this by honouring those who supported us by preparing the next generation of business owners, entrepreneurs and innovators at the start of their journey.

Local Business

We are a local business, and we look to serve and support other local businesses by working with them directly and introducing them where possible into our supply chain. This commitment to championing local business stars and talent has seen the recent residency of our director Peter Scott-Wilds as President of the South East London Chamber of Commerce.

FLR Spectron also continues to lend its support to the Chamber as a strategic partner, contributing to the growth and development of the business community in South East London.

Awards & recognition

FLR Spectron are proud to have been recognised for our contributions to the community, as well as our performance as an employer and a business through the multiple awards we have received. Being nominated by our peers as well as independent bodies heralding business values and aptitudes we share and support is a significant honour we do not take lightly. Striving for excellence really is at the heart of everything we do, so we will always look for opportunities to improve as well as shine in the future.

Environmental Policy

Conscious of the planet and its limited resources, we constantly strive to reduce our energy consumption and emissions in each sector we operate in, specifically recognising our operations and activity, in terms of the effect on the environment. We adopt the best environmental policies and demand continuous improvements, proving our commitment to minimise our environmental impact. We measure our commitment through complying, as a minimum, with current legislation and, where possible, seeking to meet future legislative requirements before implementation.

Environment
  • Reducing our use of natural resources as far as practically possible.
  • Managing our operations to prevent pollution.
  • Purchasing products and services with environmental considerations taken into account.
  • Working with our customers and suppliers to help them meet their environmental obligations.
  • Ensuring all our employees are aware of our environmental policies and act in accordance with them at all times.
  • Setting appropriate targets and monitoring our operations to enable continual improvements in our environmental performance.

In order to provide a framework that allows these core values to be achieved, we have implemented a formal Environmental Management System conforming to the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 as part of our Integrated Management System.
